RW- P.O.V Simon Girthi in Blood Siters by Barbara & Stephanie Keating

Night after night, it was always the same. The years had gone on, too many moons to count. I don't remember a time, b'fore the walls of this compound.

We were always treated like the scum of the earth. There were no rights for us. Orphans weren't looked upon favourably at all. I tried my best. I learned the ways of them, the bosses. Now is the time for me to take what they taught and to use it. Use their lessons against them. The time to avenge the deaths of my forebears is now come.

They fear us. The shadow of the Mau Mau raids looms over them again. Here, there and everywhere they fled. South through the borders to Rhodesia and South Africa. Kenya is independent, now is our time.
