Hey guys,
Like some of you, I was having a hard time deciding what to do my re-write on... After scrolling through everyone elses ideas I noticed most of you want to do something other than Wide Sargasso Sea and Jane Eyre. So I decided that I would be boring and re-write Jane Eyre. I want to change the ending of the story, so that Jane does end up travelling to India with St. John, to accompany him as a missionary. I havent quite yet decided whether I want to introduce a new character - who would play the role of Janes new lover, instead of Rochester - or make it so she falls in love with St. John, or just keep Jane single...
Any advice on what you guys think I should do would be awsome!
Goodluck with your stories!!!!!

Hey Ashlee
I don’t think its boring of you to do a rewrite on Jane Eyre at all; in fact I think your ideas of adding a new character is a brilliant idea. I can’t wait to read your final draft. Best wishes with that.
Cheers
Erica
Thanks for your advice =)
Haha glad im not boring! =P
Hey ashlee ...
your re-write sounds like a pretty religious one . hehe . would love to read your finalised copy posted up on the blog.

No, there will be hardly any religion in my story.. In the original book St. John wants Jane to move to India with him where he will work as a missionary. As my story will still have Jane as the main focus it wont envolve much writing about religion. I want to try and avoid religion as much as possible. =)
Hi Ashlee
I think its a great idea to re-write Jane Eyer's ending, Jane's leaving is the punishment for Rochester, and after watching the film and reading the book Wide sagasso sea, I think Rochester deserve it! Looking forward for your re-write story.
cheers!

I completely agree with you! Jane Eyre is too nice for Rochester. Hes a sleeaze in my opinion haha he even treats Jane like crap!
OHHHH ... i got you, you're having the opposite of the religioius st.john that we know from the Bible. NIIIICE! Would still love to see your final result of your re-write :)

Haha im guessing you havent read Jane Eyre?
Hey Ashlee!
I think, if you use St. John in your re-write, you should talk about religion as well, because they are close related. Moreover, that is the main reason why Jane refused to marry Rochester because of her religious belief, as she always talked about God when she came to the conclusion of her decision.
After reading the story, i got the opinion that Jane initially refused to marry Rochester based on her morals - that she wouldnt be with a married man. Once she finds out that Antoinette died she does end up marrying Rochester.
Im going to continue writing from Janes point of view, but she is not going to India to become a missionary, she is just going to accompany St. John.
hey ashlee,
I really like how your idea gives Jane much more freedom, as i think the movie "wide sargasso sea" lacked reality coz it showed jane as a free spirit yet she was so sumbissive to her selfish abusive husband .... good luck :)
