The Wizard of OZ

The Witches are the Shaman of Oz and have been addressing the exploitation of the resources of their world that have taken place under the old Witch of the North. They wish to live in concorde with the cycles of life in their world. They have had a realisation that the Strawman is no longer a necessicity as the birds are no given bird baths and feeding stations so that they do not mess with the fields during sowing. The Mechanical Woodman has been put out as local harvesting takes place by locals and therefore mechanisied felling of trees is unnecessary and the Lion was the mass entertainment and means of building prowess and emotion in the communicty in the old ways showing domination over the beasts and nature... is really just taggin along as he is just subjegated and really wants to go with the Witches of east and west but is following along cos he feels powerless.
So the Witches of East and West are helping the munchkins change to organic permacultural farming practices and while there are some that are catching on and enjoying a better balance in life the Old Witch of the North keeps agitating for a return to the old ways which gave her all the influence. As fate would have it the Witch of the East was attending a forum in a hotly contested area of Oz and was just leaving as the witch of the north had just arrived and was stirring up violence amongst the munchkins and the WWE felt it better to depart than stay and allow the agitation to become dangerous. As she mounted her broomstick down comes dorothy's house on top of WWE. Queue normal story but now it is the OWNorth spinning the truth to enlist Dorothy in their venture.
The OWNorth sends them down The Yellow Brick Road which is the old, winding non-direct road, via the old dilapidated agricultural, industrial and entertainment sectors which is of course going to result in Dorothy finding the Strawman, Tin Woodmand and the Lion, and Dorothy being caring, and a little naive, buy's their tales of wow and resolves to help them. Thinking that the language of the three should match that of the industrial propaganda complex and Bourgeoisie ideas of free and leisure time and worktime, efficiency, economies of scale, capitalism.
The OWNorth then sets up the meeting with the 'Wizard' (Who is this guy???) and...
Before the show down between Dorothy and the WWW the WWW tries to talk reason with Dorothy but the OWNorth has seeded so well the idea that WWW is the enemy (and is charming Dorothy) that the WWW finds it very difficult to get through to her. The Lion does finally gather up his courage when he realises that they were empty gifts and promises that the 'Wizard' gave him and that the OWNorth is actually the one causing the problems and kills the OWNorth breaking the charm and Dorothy then sees that the WWW isn't so bad and the ideas while novel are certainly not evil.
The WWW tells Dorothy that she has had the power all along to go home using the shoes that she got from her sisters dead body, only the OWNorth had withheld this information in the hope of using her for her ends.
I think it'll flesh out alright. Whadya reckon?

Have you read or heard of Wicked by Gregory Maguire which follows the Wicked witch of the West from childhood, through college and how she came to be evil. It's a really good re-write and the whole series follows the other minor characters like the Lion.
