Hi,
I'm going to do a rewrite on 'Cry, the beloved country' by the South African author Alan Paton.
In the book, the white man Arthur Jarvis was killed by the native Absalom Kumalo. After the arrest and the trial, Jarvis's father and Kumalo's father have an emotional connection but the rewrite will be about much later and told by Jarvis's son, whose father was killed, and Kumalo's son, who was unborn at the time of his father's execution. Since the original book was published, there's been Apartheid and Mandela's release and soccer World Cup so there will be separate stories told by each son at different timeline. sound okay?

I like the sound of seeing the 'changing face' of the Rainbow Nation through the eyes of two that have inherited a legacy from those events that connect them.
Will there be a connection between the two? I'm looking forward to seeing more.
It sounds like a great idea Akiko - so it will basically be about 2 differing perspectives on / effect of the original killing of Jarvis? What kind of Post Colonial iddues do you think you'l include?
