My Re-Write
I am re-writing the novel “Virgin” which is written by Robin Maxwell (2001). Also Michael Hirst has written the scenes for movie called “Elizabeth” which take place in 1558 - 1603. In the novel was focusing on the Virgin Queen’s life only. She was under pressure to marry and produce an heir, but her lover Lord Robert Dudley is not considered suitable. The queen realises she has some decisions to make, the most important being who rules England. I’m writing from a different angle, focusing on Lord Robert Dudley’s marriage with Amy Robsart whom later found dead and how he wanted to get involve with the queen. The setting will take place in the 16th century and 17th century and in UK mostly and also I might mention a little bit about the Spanish Amarda in 1588.

Hi Jan,
when you mentioned in class the movie i diddn't recognise the title but after reading your synopsis i remember the historical events.
I think it is a great angle to take, like they say there is nothing like a woman scorned. I think you will be able to take it in a great direction as Amy was between a rock and a hard place. Normally a woman scorned would take it out on the other woman, but there was no way she could take it out on Queen Elizabeth. Good luck.
Hi Jan
I have never heard of this novel or the movie either but it sounds very interesting from the little bit of background knowledge you have written so I cant wait to see what you re-write abou thte novel..
It sounds great
Hi Jan
This is a great one to do. I don't know the novel and haven't seen the movie yet, but intend to. The era you have chosen for your story is a fascinating one for English literature and maritime adventures and I hope you cover some of the religious conflict of the time also. I think incorporating a bit about the Spanish Armada will give extra strenght to your storyline. Have you considered using the words of Queen Elizabeth's speech 'I know I have but the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart of a King.."? Just a thought that perhaps you could manipulate. Will Sir Walter Raleigh and his adventures to the 'New World' also feature? I can't wait to read your story Jan. Good luck.
I'm sorry, I have never heard of this novel or the movie either, too.
But, this is write-back, so I may enjoy your work if I do not know the original. In addition, I have a time ti chack the original.
I'm looking forward to your complete work.
